Arriving at Chateau Versailles, were were greeted with a huge statue of Louis XIV on this horse. It was amazing! But behind it, past two large expanses of open space was the Chateau itself, complete with its gilded fence. The front of Versailles
Tickets into Versailles were easy to get, the line was short. However, the line through security took us nearly two hours. If I counted right, the line looped along itself 6 times, each time, nearly 2 blocks long. It was solid people!
Once in, the lines moved steadily and we were able to crowd into small rooms with massively large numbers of other people. The audio-guides were every useful too, giving information about the different rooms without having to elbow past people to read the card. Yes, we had the same problem at Versailles with Asian tourists as we did at the Louvre. Thankfully, once we got out into the Gardens, the problem disappeared for the most part.
My Review of Places I've Seen
“Great Palace, Huge Gardens”
Bring your walking shoes, the palace is huge and the gardens are endless. Worth the time spent in line (nearly 2 hours), and didn't see everything in a day. I feel like we barely made a dent. The Hall of Mirrors was amazing.
