It is set up on the grounds of the park at Beaumont Center, by the Midnight Pass Amphitheater with free parking spread around the surrounding circle. The parking setup wasn't the most efficient, as the Crave Lexington people closed off most of the roads surrounding the park, so it was hard to hop between the disconnected small parking lots looking for a parking spot.
However, after finding a parking spot, there were around 20 tents set up with food from local restaurants. You could decide at each tent how much of a taste you wanted, with prices being $1 for a taste, $3 for a little more, or $5 something a little more robust! You could definitely make a solid meal by hitting up the $1 taste at each of the booths!
While this event would have been a lot more fun if I had someone go with me, I had a great time trying out restaurants I hadn't been to in Lexington before. With Crave, I had my first taste of Pho, a Vietnamese noodle dish. Definitely makes me want to go to Jasmine Rice. I enjoyed the Amber Ale from local brewery West Sixth. Ok, ok, I had two or three. A girl's got to keep her palate clean! I'm not a fan of Mac n' Cheese, but the one from Red State BBQ wasn't bad. Don't ask me why, but while I was still working on one of my beers I decided to pick up some ice cream. Really not two things you'd think would go together, however it was Buffalo Trace Bourbon chocolate ice cream from Nick Ryan's Saloon. I finished off the day with a wonderful Tiramisu from Shakespeare and Company. Definitely will need to go there and have a full order sometime!
I can't wait for the second year of Crave Lexington. Hopefully I can get a group together to go and enjoy the food next year.
