I'm going to act like a little kid! So far, so good, I've got tomatoes and French beans coming up. Just got to keep this up!

So I realized that I've been talking alot about my travels, but have failed to put much of anything about my gardening hobby. This year I decided to be somewhat different (for myself that is) and plant some seeds to see if I can grow them into a wonderful vegetable garden this summer and forgo my absolute favorite hobby of going to the big box store (Lowes & Home Depot, I don't discriminate), the farmers market, and local nurseries to find transplants. So today I invested in some starter kits and seeds. The coconut material for starting my plants of course pops up and looks like giant... well, poo. But that's ok, it doesn't faze me, I pick up after my dog, right? I of course start of with gardening staples: Roma tomatoes, sweet peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, hot peppers, and a new one for me, French beans. I planted all my seeds, watered them down, and set everything up in a sunny spot to see if I could get them to sprout. Crossing my fingers for the best! Can you tell I'm ready for winter to be over and spring to begin?
Places I've SeenIf I have to drink bourbon, this is one I'd prefer, as it is a smooth and relatively "gentle" bourbon. Don't deny, you know part of drinking bourbon is the burning sensation as it goes down your throat. Four Roses has a wonderful tour, highlighting both the facilty's history and the bourbon making process. Like any other distillery, they of course offer a free tasting with the tour. Extra tid-bit, Four Roses used to be the last place to get alcohol before driving the 120 miles into Tennessee before Kentucky became "wet" again. My second time visiting Woodford Reserve. The Distillery property is beautifully landscaped and opens on a wonderful creek running though the property. Wooden rocking chairs are spread around the tasting room, so that you can enjoy some bourbon while looking at some of the Kentucky hill country. I can't say I enjoy bourbon, Woodford Reserve in particular is extremely strong. When I have Woodford Reserve, I find it a must to include at least 3 ice cubes in my sample, that is of course if I can drink any of it. |
